West Ky | I guess your guarenteeing that your going to have good weather. The insurance companies are going to weasel out if they can and they probably will. Guys have animosity because landlords see this stupid figure and they think I should get that too. We had a freeze on the wheat this year some farmers had a total loss and it got the corn/ had to replant and had to pay for 50% of the replant. We then had a massive drought here. We had less than 6 inches of rain from Jan 1-sep8. We have had several years in a row also of droughts. Even some guys had the philosophy to lock in some excellent wheat prices of $4 a bushel for a few years and $3 corn for a couple of years. Now the inputs are so high that they are going to have a hard time breaking even. I'm glad we didn't do this but I feel for those guys that did and I'm not going to go out and try to kick them while they are down and take their ground away from them. | |
