Subject: RE: Manure PH

NW Washington
An acre-furrow-slice of soil, or acre of soil 6 to 7 inches deep is generally estimated to weigh about 2,000,000 pounds. So the 4,000 pounds of Manure is apt to have little effect on the soil pH. The limestone or Calcium Carbonate has the calcium needed to affect the soil chemistry to lower the soil pH and I don't think the manure does. Also added N fertilizers will also cause the soil to become more acid too.
