Little River, TX | Many State Farm Bureau's set up hay lifts, as well as State Departments of Agriculture. In years past Texas Growers have donated hay, and truckers have donated transportation for hard hit livestock owners. I would not think anyone would be really interested in much of the surplus hay, not in this part of Texas for this year. At best it might do as a filler.
I have two observations for you. First I make more and better hay in a dry year than in a wet year. Second is we have one wet year followed by two drought years. Any hay that I might have surplus will be useful for my local customers during the next two years. I do not have any surplus hay, but I do have a few local cases to whom I donate hay to on a regular basis. | |
