I'm glad to hear that you had your talk. I would really encourage you to consider pricing based on moisture in future years. I think that is the only fair way to do it. I'll tell you a story about that: one day I got a call. A client wanted me to stop in. He had a contract to sell corn silage to a neighbor. The contract was based on 65% moisture. However, the corn silage was actually harvested at 68% moisture. If I remember, the yield was 20 Ton/ac at 68%. However, the buyer corrected the yield back to 65%, as specificed in the contract. The seller - the client who called me - thought he got gypped. I told me not - I thought the math was done correctly. I'm telling you this so that you know..... I think selling based on moisture is the correct way to do it. However, both parties need to understand - in advance - how the process works, so either party believes they are not being taken advantage of. Have a good week! (I'm glad for the rain we got today. I hope you get some also.) Martin |
