Subject: RE: Say closer to 51 in 012,

New Mexico
keep in mind we're exporting a pile of it now ( exports come out of the supposed 51 supply btw ).

USA Beef is in a VERY unique position now:
Thee globe's largest beef exporter.
AND beef volume has gone up while prices have steadily increased .

Feeder supply? Don't worry bout it.
WE have a decent total NA supply, however they're going to get higher priced too.

Keep in mind the Mex cattle and Can too are basically cowherd supply subsidiaries of the usa.

We imported 1.4 to 1.5 million feeders from Mex in 011.
That is a new record ( surpasses the 750k to 760k head of 09 level by bout double ).

Canada? who knows? Some operators there actually imported feeder cattle from the usa in 011, fed em there.

Usa processes the bulk of ALL cattle in NA.

That is not going to change.

Trend has been, the more action the higher the producer prices and the higher the exports, and comped by ever increasing hamburger demand in usa.

Within 3 years, 1 out of every 4 cattle processed usa will be exported.
Hogs are already there ( will be 1 out of 3 exported within 3 years on those ).

It's quite possible ( weather permitting ) the NA total feed cost index in 012 drops by another 15 to 30% as the year progresses.
That and yet higher priced finished cattle indicates feeder cattle are likely going to get higher priced.

Just went thru a real nice set of hard weaned calves down on the border.
Strait reds, steers and hiefers mixed.
Just a bare tick of ear on em, one ranch.
Price was $145 cwt. wt @ 410 lbs..

To early to go N w em, so they'll go to grass in the SW.

That ranch has alot more of those coming up. Some of those will go to the Midwest, some to the high Sangre De Cristos towards Spring.

Really a good set of framey, slab sided cattle. Most ALL are reds or red / char x though.
