S.E. Iowa | And yet as a group, we seem to be most outspoken and outraged with the food stamp progams to needy. When 51% of the people qualify according to goverment stats, you seek to cut off the hand that feeds you. I not talking those that abuse, It is a subsity for our products that would otherwise go unsold allowing a certain part of society to continue to use our products. The next problem has been how the check off dollars have been used in the beef marketing itself and the industries so called value added products. The best example are the so called convience products. The packer offer a convience pack of pot roast with a little gravey that retails for $8 in a 1 lb bag, when the consumer on food stamps should be educated to be buying the same cut fresh for $2,69/lb. Maybe teaching people how to get the best value for their dollar would in turn allow them to purchase more lbs of our product with the same money. | |
