E.Central MN | Had some problems here in Minn this year, too. Seems that when we got just a slight sprinkle of rain that it was enough to get the older cattle really sick. I lost a couple big steers and had a couple healthy looking older cows really go down hill, too. I hated going to do chores for a couple weeks, since I'm not normally a big fan of giving antibiotics to older feeder cattle. The rendering guy said he must have picked up close to 50 head of 500-600# a short while after that light rain about a month ago. It was frustrating because the weather was so nice compared to what we normally have to deal with this time of the year. | |
