Greene County, Illinois | IL cow man is right, cows prefer grass hay over alfalfa and will always eat it first if they have a choice. I would guess they back off the alfalfa because of the taste(and alfalfa hay, no matter how good is stemmy) and hoping you are going to put out another grass bale. I usually feed alfalfa bales in the middle of the winter so they have to eat them, then closer to spring start switching them over to grass hay. | |
