The real question might be what will you be required to do in the future if you have an additional 225 head in an open lot in the future with runoff concerns? You have all of the equipment to make a deep bedded barn work so you won't have that cost to add to putting up a deep bedded barn. The Nrcs cost share could be beneficial if the building is not overdesigned which is what I have seen on several of their cost share projects. The biggest problem will be if they throw in the open lot and additional containment. If that is the case you may want to go it alone. just my thoughts and experience with writing nutrient plans several years ago. I never did a plan on deep bedded barns The people selling the barns say 1.2 bales per year per head, but I have heard of some running up to over 2 bales per head. In my opinion a dirt pack with lime pack will stay drier, but full concrete is much easier to clean.
