Subject: Testing Corn for Nitrates

I have an old upright silo which is filled with drought corn silage from last September (cured well - water was added). I also have some round bales of the same corn that I am wondering about the nitrate levels. How exactly do I test each different product to get an accurate nitrate reading. We have a local lab that will do the testing. At what nitrate level would it be safe to feed to pregnant heifers, open heifers, or steers? Thank you
