New Mexico | Garvo made some good points on this. The market wants those big backgrounded cattle weighing 850 to 10. So perhaps forget fat cattle and background your calves. If your rough feed base will handle more cows then add some or grow hiefers in. Your backgrounding deal takes higher quality feed vs the cows. Also alot of folks can run more cows easier by simply changing calfing interval and do that w less feed too.
