SW MN | We've always covered our uprights-didn't know others DIDN'T do it. Typically chop in Sept., open in March. Spoilage can vary, but worse if silage was getting to dry. Still not bad. Never worry about gas that long after.
We always let the silage settle overnight, put in a couple more loads, leave blower run at idle, level and cover. Biggest pain is how hot (and humid) it is because the silage starts to heat. | |
