Cousinit, I was not commenting on your situation other than to say that we also have a flat barn parlor and to relate some of our experience with it. As you can guess, from the comment about prepping cows, we are having SCC problems with that herd.
J. I believe the type of mastitis bugs you have in a herd mostly determines whether prepping/milking procedure is most important (contagious udder pathogenes) or whether bedding/sanitation are most important (environmentals). Of course, there's some overlap between bugs (Strep. dysgalactia for example which is not an obligate udder pathogen, lives in the environment, but is contagious between cows, as well as overlap between prep and enviroment (better environment makes for better/more effective prep routine).
