for the sake of the comparison they were weaned on 11/01. I do not do that but it could easily be done. I know our calves are grazing quite a bit at that time frame. Across the fence weaning could easily be done then. You will notice that the option 1 cows were gaing weight on stockpile where the other option was not and they needed to.
AS to the gaining weight that's as I understand it is pretty much standard in cow nutrition. I do know it is much cheaper to get weight on cows before they calve. Remember the original post was when is the best time to calve. I figure the best is least cost time, now if you have a high paying job which could be planting a crop your time might be more valuable in June I have no desire to debate that. That has nothing to do with a cow herd and forages it does have a lot with your overal bottom line.
I just made the study simple for simples sake, one can play with the feed stuff and get all kinds of info. Ben
