Subject: Re: Milking parlor

Faunsdale, AL
We've got a flat barn parlor here.

It was a back-out style, operated 8 on a side before we went looking at barns in California and saw some old barns with individual gates for each cow to go out the front. Decided to go that route instead of digging a pit. Converted it one side at a time while milking on the other side, so that worked as planned. Sure increases throughput, but it's still a flat barn. Hard to get hired help to do a good job of prepping and milking the cows in it. We're planning on selling down this spring and closing it.

I've seen 150 cows per hour coming through there from 18 machines, 3 operators though. Really should be 2 and a cow pusher.
