Are you really managing risk or are you betting heavily on genomics. As I said earlier, I am not against genomics. In fact I have used some of the high end genomics bulls in my herd. However, I am not going to breed a majority of my cows to sires that we are only using an educated guess as to what they will really end up being. I have been using bulls like Colby that are 99% reliable. Yes there are still duds but I am building a solid base that I can move forward with in the future. If I use a bull with poorer reliability and get a bunch of cows that don't fit my operation, where do I go from there? I'm not trying to change anyone's opinions. I just want to learn your way of thinking. I figure we can all learn something from each other if we can get over ourselves and just listen a bit.
