The higher the moisture the less likely they are to shatter. If you have storage with aeration you can take them off the field at 15-16% and avoid much of the potential for losses.

I harvested some beans last week at 10% and there was some shatter, not a lot. After a few days of rainy weather the beans were 14-15% today and combined nicely. They will blend well in the bin and add some moisture to the dry beans. An air reel helps a lot to minimize losses as well.
