WC ILL or on a HD on a road to 'somewhere'... | Don't touch it, even in the fall. The express will get you - got me. While you think you've got a pH of 7, maybe even less, you're looking at it from a soil profile probe, prolly 7in deep. If you've been incorporating lime w/ a tillage tool like a chisel plow, you're not getting the lime mixed throughout the whole profile. More than likely the top couple of inches are higher pH & the lower depths lower pH. You're going to be putting the express where the pH is likely a lot higher than you think = that'll get the beans. I'd brought my tests 'up' before going to notill, then applied 'maintenance' amounts on the surface, never more than 1 ton/app & never more than a ton in maybe 4-5 years. Found out after express damage what my surface pH really was. I'll never lime again in my lifetime!! Neither will I use a soil pH active product again... |
