NC Kansas
One year I sowed some fall alfalfa and added the turnip seed. Army worms took the alfalfa, but I was left with an awesome stand of turnips. Dad and I pulled a bunch and took them to a food bank in Manhattan. They got rid of that load in a big hurry and called United Methodist Urban Ministries in Wichita, letting them know that there was some nut giving away turnips. They called for a load, then two, then three. Every load was a little over a ton of just bulbs. To make a long story longer, we kept the receipts. At the end of the year, the tax man took $6500 off of my taxes and $2000 off of dad's. Not a bad return for failed alfalfa.
