West Texas | One year I was growing sudangrass next to the state highway that runs through the farm. The sudan was about as high as tall corn and just starting to show heads. One day I was working a cotton patch nearby just across the highway, and observed a fairly new auto pull off onto the shoulder next to the sudan. A guy hopped out and ran into the sudan holding a paper sack. After a few minutes, the guy comes back out with the empty sack and makes a baffled shrug to his partner in crime waiting in the car. All this time, I'm sitting in my tractor right across the highway, watching them, and they didn't so much as glance my way.
Just as well I wasn't growing corn, eh?
Saaay, perhaps that would be a good way to disguise a cornfield thats subject to theft! Plant a border of sudangrass around the corn... I'll bet the thieves will be too lazy to go further than a few rows into the field. | |
