Mississippi | Please don't give it a second thought, Dave. I've noticed how little coverage the drought has gotten up there, and I've been trying to figure out why the story was so overlooked. As I read those postings early this morning, it all sort of became clear, hence my rather lengthy rant. I forwarded it to my two colleagues here, both of whom do most of the posting to my web site. If anything, they said I underestimated the amount of coverage that some Extension news staffs had been giving the drought in other states. One week, there were 4 items from Arkansas, one of them recalled. Granted, one was a horticulture/garden item, but the other 3 covered ag production, both row crops and livestock. Georgia's state meteorologist, who's on the Extension/University staff, has turned out probably 10 different analysis reports about the drought there. How much that helps, who knows? But I suspect that the squeaking wheel gets its oil first. |
