Depends on how well the alfalfa is growing.

If it has enough moisture, is young enough (ie, pre-bloom), glyphosate works well. If the alfalfa is drought stressed, glyphosate won't kill anywhere near all of it.

2,4-D works well, provided the plant is growing somewhat.

The best control I've seen on alfalfa is with a combo of the two.
