Subject: RE: 07 Flex Cotton

NW Tennessee

I only have DPL 117 in a variety trial, but it doesn't look much worse than anything else. It's all pretty bad! If I'm not mistaken, and if I am I hope someone will correct me, DPL 117 is a determinate variety and fruits in a shorter time span than an indeterminate. Which means, if it doean't get water at the right time, it will really suffer. Got a neighbor that started picking today in a field of 117. That cotton was the fastest growing and best looking cotton around here....for a while. It went downhill fast in the heat. Wouldn't hazard a guess to the yield since it's not mine, but it's not good. My worst looking is a field of DPL 136 refuge. It's been a good cotton for us, but not this year. I've got half flex, half RR, acreage-wise. Got some DPL 445 that looks pretty fair, considering, but I believe my best will be ST 4554 Flex. I also have some ST 4227 that looks OK. Plan to start picking Monday, so that will tell the tale.

As I said, I've got some variety trials, mostly Croplan, but some DPL, Stoneville, and Phytogen. I'll post the yields when I get it picked, should be sometime next week.
