Subject: Buyers guide for Deere 643 corn head

mid Illinois
I was planning on buying a Deere 643 corn head, and was wanting some advice from those in the know about what to look for when purchasing one, other than the chains and sprockets. They made them for a lot of years, so are the later ones better than an older one? Did they go to gear lube in the gear boxes in the later ones? Any advice is appreciated. I have always run IH heads, so a Deere head is something entirely new to me. I would like to buy a 693, but price precludes that.
