Subject: Iron and Zinc in wheat ground

Got soil tests back today. Also, have been reading "Minerl Nutrition of Higher Plants, 2nd Edition" by Horst Marschner.

I have Calcareous Soils, am in North Central Montana and am trying to figure out what is going on with my soils. Zinc and Iron are really intriguing me.

Samples I have back were taken from Zones developed from 3 years of Satt Imagery used to define the zones bases on bimass present. Field was split into 3 zones, Hi, Med and low. On my very BEST ground Zinc is .21 PPM and Iron is 13.9 PPM giving a Z/I ratio of .0151.

Question, is it the amount of each of these elements that matters or is it the Ratio that matters??

Any other ideas appreciated,

Buckwheat
