Been through that too, feed a lot of fiber, keep them thin, feed them cheap but nothing is cheap these days!

One year our corn crop was destroyed by floods and the feedmill gave us all their corn cobs. Those cows were the thinnest you ever saw but had one of the best calf crops ever.

You can't do that now so balance the ration as cheaply as you can.
