Subject: RE: marriage advice about dangerous farm work

Driftless SW Wisconsin

You are a lucky man to have a wife who cares enough about you and has the guts to speak up. Tell her thank you and buy and use a harness when you are up there, safety glasses, hearing protection and any other safety equipment you can use for various jobs around the farm.

When you are young you think you are invincible. When you get a bit older and have a few close calls you realize you are NOT invincible and taking a couple minutes and spending a few dollars on safety is a very worthwhile investment compared to the possible pain, suffering and cost of preventable accidents.

Be thankful for your wife and listen to her. You will be repaid many times over. Good luck.

PS in marriage it often takes a real big man (or woman) to say "yes dear" and "I'm sorry". But having the ability to say and mean those words it is often the key to a long, happy marriage.

The last thing you want is a wife who does NOT speak up or is afraid to speak up when something is important to her. I would not go quoting the Bible to her about who is in charge when she is expressing concern about your safety.

The worst thing any manager or husband can have is a bunch of "yes men" or women around who always do exactly what you say and are afraid to speak up with their opinions/ideas.
