Buy yourself some new cabinets at Lowes or Home Depot or a similar outfit and stick them on the wall your self. Put in Formica counter tops and a stainless steel sink. Most places have people that will help with the design and computer programs to draw up 2 and 3 D drawings.
Kitchen remodeling can get crazy in a hurry if you go for high end stuff and hire all the work done.
