He did that if he had a cow that went crazy, and would resist someone getting near them. Using a long string, and holding it with the rope, he could release the animal after the shots or other treatments, without getting near the head, causing less stress to the animal. I only ask as I never knew if that was common practice, or just one of his wise ideas. I figured there was a reason for the hole in the quick release lever. |
