There seems to be quite a bit of scam and fraud surrounding that program. I do know that it isn't an easy task to get approved for payments, and it may be (I'm not sure) only effective if it's a permanent disability. You'd want to check into that before relying on SSI to cover you if you're injured. Our DI coverage kicks in when DH is unable to perform regular work duties for 30 days. As soon as he's able to go back to work, the coverage ceases. I don't believe that's the case with SS. |
