Virginia | I've planted annual ryegrass behind beans for a cover crop. It does have a very deep root system. That's why I've used it. We kill it at 6-8 " . Definitely don't want it to go to seed. Another thing I like about the ryegrass is I don't believe it sucks as much moisture in the spring as cereal rye does. Very good grazing quality wise but do you think it would produce as much grazing as cereal rye? I'm thinking about cereal rye and turnips for fall grazing on a corn field we chopped that will be going back to corn. Any thoughts? Thanks. | |
