SW Ontario | Remember a cow's tolerance to heat is much lower than our own. If the end of the barn where the cows don't stand faces south, heat stress is probably the problem. Sun shining into the barn on the south side causes radiant heating on the cows. Cows will then move away from this area and stand where there is no radiant heat. The answer is to create shade on the side of the barn they are not standing and/or install more fans. | |
