| Well, I think tnfarms is right. You can do a single burndown, and then notill a legume like Alfalfa, and the grass will still come back, but you'll get an Alfalfa stand. New grass is a little tougher. If you have to get rid of the bluegrass(I personally like bluegrass), then I'd burndown and go to wheat or rye or Italian ryegrass, then go to Sudangrass and then back to grass the following fall. I have one pasture that has been Alfalfa/bluegrass/Palaton Reed canary since about 1998. It's been a very productive pasture. Unfortunately, the Easter Freeze got that Alfalfa, so it's probably going to get a burndown and resown after this grazing rotation. | |
