NW Washington | Here is the rapeseed dealer in Idaho where your dwarf Essex seed probably came from originally. I am sure that rapeseed harvest is over for this year as things have been real dry in northern Idaho this year. They are in the Pacific time zone if you call them.
Yes, winter rape can become a weed if not controlled.
There is another variety of rape bred to for green manure/cover crops called "Humis" or something like that which might be a better crop for you.
