Subject: Soybean rust/aphid news feed

Mississippi

As a quick way to put soybean (and soy aphid) updates on our web sites, we set up an RSS/XML feed. Most of the links go directly to the latest state reports on USDA's web site. However, there's been at least one instance lately when an email alert went out from USDA but the USDA rust map was never actually updated with the new counties (in Arkansas, as I recall). In cases like that, we're dropping the email notice on one of our regular pages and linking to that. Except for whatever banner appears on those rare pages, the content is commercial free.

If you use a news reader and want to include the feed in your list, here's the URL:

http://agfax.com/rss/rustwire/rustwire.xml

If you want to add the feed to your web site, here's the java script code:

<script language="JavaScript" xsrc="http://agfax.com/rss/rustwire/output.js">
</script>

We also have a cotton feed and a rice feed that are available. If you want that code, please contact me directly and I'll email it to you.

I'm no guru at most of this stuff but will be glad to help with basic troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Owen
