I agree with you. I have read some that spraying too early can be bad if there is good population of ladybeetles-which eat the aphids....because you also kill all the beetles and the aphids come back faster. I may need to reread to get details again as we didn't have them last year.

Also I remember something about condtions-thresholds can be adjusted as the moisture lost to Aphids can be made up by plant at higher levels if there is adequate moisture-but in a dry year the little devils can hurt a lot more.
