Urbandale Ia, (but originally from SE IA) | Like they say, farmers are never happy! I had a low rate of Lumax applied on my no-till RR corn fields at planting for burndown and some residual until we could come back with a second shot of R-up.
Here's my dilema, the fields are still pretty darn clean and the corn is getting to the size where I don't really want any spray jockey cowboys out ther zooming around. Still a ways from canopy though. My biggest fear is that we'll get a spell of wet weather and a late flush of weeds will pop up when its basically too late to spray the corn. I can't believe that a 1/3 rate will actually end up giving me season long control.
I guess my thoughts are that if corn is clean at knee high, later weed flushes aren't going to do a lot of yield reduction. You'd mainly be spraying to control weed seeds for reducing future weed pressure.
Any comments? |
