NE MO & W IL | Over here in eastern MO a lot of early corn (April) is made, but the later planted corn, which is probably the majority, is just in the blister to milk stage...not good. Most fields have very little moisture left, and since MO doesn't have sub-soil, just clay&rock (ha,ha) we're running on empty. I have a feeling the ears will start to abort badly this week. It's sad, because we had an above average corn crop going. I may be a little pessimistic, these hybrids may hold a week or so, but if it doesn't rain next week... well lets not think about that yet. I've seen good corn on shallow topsoil burn up in just a few weeks with the forecast they are calling for. Everyone needs to start saying there prayers.
