NW Washington | I don't see any problem with either or both of them, other than they can become weeds if not controlled. But I wonder how they can mix the seeds. Rape is tiny compared to the large rye kernels, and I would guess that would quickly separate in the bin or in the drill. And it is hard to get a drill set low enough to seed rape at the recommended rate and rye is sure not the same.
Rape should be seeded real shallow, but I guess rye will grow if you just scatter it on the ground, so that should not be a problem.
