Subject: RE: Fertilizer in Silo bags

Back in March we put about 250 tons of urea in silo bags before the price rises. Rather than all going in one bag I shut the bag off and cut it then started a new one every 50 tons or so. This is so when I'm getting it out I don't get stuck with an open bag with lots of fert left in. The urea seems to be staying loose inside the bag so I think its going fine so far. I don't plan on using it till sorghum planting around October. The little bit of urea spilt around and under the bags helps to keep the mice away. I have heard that some people sprinkle urea under grain bags as a matter of course to keep mice away.
