Some potato growers in Washington are planting oriental mustard, which is very hot, on land going into pototoes. Helps control diseases, some weeds and nematodes. They plant the mustard behind wheat and the till the crop in while it is still green for best effect.

There are some varieties of rape that have a similar affect, but more biomass.
