Subject: RE: Heating system

Sarnia, Ontario
I built my shop in 1996 & put floor heat in. I have no regrets - several advantages over a forced air system.
- even heat distribution
- no fans to stir dust/dirt up
- any water on the floor dries up quickly
- I use a oil fired boiler for heat which has a small reservoir - if the boiler needs to be replaced will switch to a on demand type
- I maintain a temperature of about 45 F - warm enough as long as you are working, but gets cool if you stop to chat
- I have a rollup door on one end and a overhead hoist at other end - this limited installation of a radiant tube
My tubes are on 12" centers
Be sure you insulate under the floor as well as the perimeter down about 2 ft
Good luck
