Chad, I think it is the pheasants. They do seem to dig up a growing plant to find the seed at the bottom. Seems odd that past years have rarely seen one in my area of WI but now there are enough of them to do some damage. Your 60 acres is a lot of corn to lose to pheasants. I like to see every seed come up standing at attention in the right spot - they're messing up my stand! Driving through your area of SD, it is amazing how they will be out along the side of the road at sundown looking at you and then just fly right across in front of the truck! It's like they wait for you. You think nature would give them the instinct to head the other direction? Not at the point of flying across the road yet in WI. I may have to take up pheasant hunting if this keeps up. It's the first year I have noticed this sort of damage. Always figure on losing corn to the deer but that's just Wisconsin. Jim at Dawn
