Subject: RE: Wandering Planter on Strips! Case planters pulling one way

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Brian, We have had lots of calls about Case planters with the openers offset all one way, pulling to one side. I think Case changed to half RH half LH staggered openers on the 950 model??

A customer came up to me at a show one time and said he had the problem solved on his 12R30 900 planter: He ran our Dawn Trashwheels in the offset (non-intersecting) position, but rather than run 6 rows offset RH and 6 rows offset LH, I believe he ran 8 of them offset LH (left wheel in far front hole, right wheel trailing in rear hole) and 4 RH (right wheel in far front hole, left wheel trailing in the rear hole).

He claims this produces enough force in the opposite direction from the staggered openers to straighten out the path of the planter. (if any one tries this please check my directions - you know what the idea is, I am not 100% sure of which opener leads on an older Case planter)
