perryton, tx | I had a similar situation last week. You're doing the right thing so far, i think. My question is does the heifer fight the calf when in the chute? My heifer would not resist at all while in the chute, so i would just leave her alone in the chute for half an hour to an hour and let the calf do his thing. I think not having people around while this was happening maybe helped them bond. I also think that maybe as the pain from the pull has subsided it has made her more tolerant of the calf. At any rate, my situation resolved itself as the heifer now claims the calf and lets him suck when he wants, so hopefully yours will too. Good luck! | |
