SE Nebraska, Near Misery and Cans Ass! | I have some old dairy barns a neighbor uses to calve out his fancy registered Angus heifers. I went to that farm this morning to check on some equipment stored there and there were 6 dead heifers piled in the yard and 10 dead calves of obvious holstein parentage. The owner and the vet were there having just finished two c-sections and the owner was not happy. He had paid high dollar for the heifers as 300 # calves and synced them and AI'ed them himself. Apparently the neighboring Holstein cleanup bull was aware of the situation and paid a visit about 21 days after the AI. He must be a very good bull as he He bred at least 14 heifers in a very short period of time. Just not too good in the calving ease department. Those two don't get along anyhow bet there will be a lawsuit if insurance doesn't pay and I have never heard of that. |
