| This sounds crazy, but the idea came from the local coop and really works.
The first rinse is sprayed out in the field so you don't have a problem around the farmstead. This should probably be done more than once. Pull off the nozzles and run water through the lines. Then fill the tank almost full of water. Then get an anhydrous ammonia tank and put the hose in your spray tank and crack the valve for a couple of minutes. There is a rather pronounced reaction when the ammonia enters the water. Let the ammonia/water solution set overnight if possible. The run it all out through the booms. Make sure you rinse the tank and booms again with clean water. This works even if you have been spraying 24D or dicamba and go to Roundup. Using household ammonia would probably do the same thing, but the person I get my anhydrous ammonia from will let me bubble a little into my sprayer because he likes my business. Sometimes he has a tank with a small percentage that he wants to empty anyway and is glad to get some help. Be careful and just crack the valve! | |
