Little River, TX | For at least 60 years water prices in the valley have been government subsidy cheap. Is it possible / probable water cost will now much higher? Rationing water use with price?
Will this force growers, and lawn growers, to switch to much higher efficiency irrigation systems? Meaning abandoning flood and going to buried drip, or pivot with a dragging perforated hose? Something with a better than 90% water efficiency. No more flood, hand set, side roll, or big gun irrigation systems allowed?
Possibly fine tuning the fertility program for optimal water use efficiency by the plant. Try to approach a ton of hay per 3 - 4 inches of moisture.
Would extreme efficiency create a salt build up problem?
As for urban water use, I am not in favor of using potable water to water grass and or bushes. They need to transition to desert motif yard designs that can survive with natural rainfall.
For a little sarcastic humor, change the rules for organic, NO more growing with artificial water. | |
