Oh I've got some creek bottom that counts as swamp, Don. Places down there that still aren't planted & would still chance being stuck to try it today. Hasn't rained since Memorial Day, either. It's like an artisian well down there, water just seems to bubble up out of the ground.

That was the last place I intentionally side-dressed. I split a field with half fall applied strips @ full rate & half at a partial rate, w/ balance side-dressed. I could stand on the hill all summer & see the line in the field. That fall the yield monitor put the proof in the pudding. Most of that summer the field conditions were more suitable for rice than corn. Was like it was growing in standing water. My thoughts at the time were that the roots were impeded to getting to the side-dress N by the wet soil. That fall N being indexed right under it made it more available.

I agree, what works 'here' & 'there' can be & are two very different things...
