VT | How far do you have to truck calves to market? Do you sell through your local sale barn or other outlets? Do you ship out of state. I am in Vermont. Limited marketing for the dairy heifers I raise. Costly to ship to NY or PA due to vet and blood test requirements for breeding stock. Also commissions at dairy sales here are 10%. A dairy nearby is selling A.I. sired Angus/Holstein calves for $150 ea. I am considering buy a few and testing the beef market. Thoughts? | |
